Drive-By at the Academy: A Poem Published in Black Heart Magazine

I wrote this poem in the throbbing aftermath of a difficult, disheartening parent-teacher meeting. A colleague of mine coined the phrase “drive-by” to articulate my shock in response to the unexpected accusations I had just heard, and I went home and spilled my blood and guts on the page. Black Heart Magazine honored me by publishing the poem on June 18, 2014.
